Frequently asked questions

WattRumo English edition · Last editorial update 31 October 2026

Are the results actual energy bills?

No. They are illustrative energy-only estimates from the inputs supplied. Actual climate, insulation, thermostat settings and heat distribution all matter.

Why is a heat pump often cheaper than direct electric heating?

An operating heat pump can deliver more useful heat than the electrical energy it consumes. A higher effective COP usually means lower electricity use for the same useful heat.

Is the cheapest option always the best purchase?

No. Installation cost, existing equipment, comfort, maintenance, sizing and long-term reliability are separate questions.

Can I use prices outside Portugal?

Yes. Replace the euro price inputs with your own euro-equivalent figures. The sample inputs and many Portuguese-language guides are oriented toward Portugal.

What is the load factor?

It is the assumed average fraction of reference heat power used during the selected operating hours. It is not a measured average for your home.
